Wodensborough Ormiston Academy celebrates positive Ofsted report
We are proud to share that Wodensborough Ormiston Academy has been recognised by Ofsted for providing a calm, respectful and inclusive environment where pupils feel safe, supported and valued.
Our academy was among the first schools inspected under Ofsted’s new national inspection framework, which replaces a single overall grade with detailed judgements across key areas of school life.
Following our full inspection in November 2025, Ofsted confirmed that we are meeting the expected standard across all areas, including attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, leadership and governance, personal development and wellbeing, and post-16 provision.
Inspectors described our school as a “friendly, respectful community where pupils are valued” and highlighted that pupils feel safe and speak positively about the care and support they receive from staff.

The report recognises a range of strengths, including strong support for pupils with SEND and those who are disadvantaged, effective preparation for life beyond school, a wide range of opportunities to develop pupils’ interests and talents, and positive experiences in careers education. Inspectors also praised our sixth form as a unique and personalised provision supporting students with high and complex needs. Pupils reported feeling safe and well cared for, with many describing school as being like a “family”.
While the report identifies areas for further development, including academic attainment, inspectors recognised that we have clear plans in place to strengthen outcomes and that this work is already beginning to have a positive impact. Ofsted also noted high staff morale and positive feedback from parents and carers, as well as the commitment of leaders to serving our community.
Principal Leigh Moore said: “We are pleased that Ofsted has recognised the calm and respectful culture we have built at Wodensborough Ormiston Academy, and that our pupils feel safe, supported and valued. This report reflects the dedication of our staff and the strong relationships we have with pupils and families. While encouraged by this outcome, we remain ambitious for what more we can achieve for our school and our pupils.”
Paul Hyde, Education Director for the West Region at Ormiston Academies Trust, added: “This report recognises the inclusive and caring environment Wodensborough Ormiston Academy provides to support all pupils to succeed. The Trust will continue to work closely with the academy to strengthen achievement and ensure every young person can fulfil their potential.”
