Social Media

Please be aware that social media is a great communication resource but also could be harmful to young people so it is important that you are aware of such apps so that you are able to moderate the experience your child has, to protect them from online risks.

Yubo – Is a social media app that allows users to make friends by swiping through profiles in their area and can live stream. It is only for 13 years and above. Young people may be exposed to harmful content so it important that you moderate the use of your child

Discord is a free online social media platform aimed at gamers. It allows user to interact using voice, text and images through closed groups such as closed groups such as servers. This is aimed at 13 years and older only. Server members is set by default meaning anyone in your server can message you. It is important to block other users by clicking the 3 dots in the top right screen and selecting block another user.

Omegle is an online chat website that allows users to socialise with others without the need to register which is a risks on its own.  Omegle, a video-chatting website that pairs random users identified as ‘You’ and ‘Stranger’ to chat online via ‘Text’, ‘Video’ or both.
